DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Director of Safety, the Safety Coordinator will support onsite safety coverage, assist in the development and maintenance of safety programs, and ensure compliance with safety protocols. This role requires a proactive individual who is willing to spend most of their time on-site, actively engaging with employees and conducting daily safety inspections.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience, preferably in a manufacturing or construction environment
  • Designations or certifications such as CRST, CSO, Fall Protection, Confined Space, or other relevant safety credentials are preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a high level of written and verbal communication
  • This role may occasionally require working outside regular hours, including evenings or weekends, as operational needs arise.
  • The position involves supporting field activities in areas such as work at height, confined spaces, and hot work, and may require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including fall protection, a clean-shaven respirator fit, and chemical protective suits.
  • Must be comfortable working with operations, maintenance, and contractors, including construction contractors and various trades as needed.
  • Expected to assist with safety inspections, training, incident investigations, and the implementation of safety programs such as hazardous substances, confined space entry, and emergency response.
  • Must be able to respond promptly to urgent safety issues and support emergency response procedures when required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide onsite safety coverage while supporting training and development of safety programs.
  • Conduct daily safety inspections across departments to monitor compliance with safety protocols.
  • Actively engage with employees to promote a culture of safety and address immediate safety concerns.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of safety programs and procedures.
  • Manage incident reporting and investigation processes.
  • Coordinate safety training sessions and workshops for employees.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
  • Collaborate with the Safety Director and other team members to continuously improve safety standards.
