JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • 2+ years of experience in occupational health & safety in a manufacturing environment;
  • Undergraduate Degree and/or certificate or diploma in OH&S or equivalent experience;
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook;
  • Strong presentation skills, including attention to detail;
  • Excellent oral and written communication;
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently or as a part of a team;
  • Certified first aider or willingness to become certified;
  • Possess a valid Nova Scotia driver’s license;
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with OH&S training, including new hire orientation.
  • Update Safety Data Sheets and provide WHMIS education.
  • Provide support with incident investigations.
  • Assist in the implementing of safety measures, conducting inspections and promoting a culture of safety on site;
  • Evaluation and monitoring of safety hazards and assist in the development of strategies to control risks in the workplace and analyze trends;
  • Administration of the contractor management program;
  • Perform regular on-site safety inspections;
  • Investigate safety incidents on equipment and systems and conduct safety audits;
  • Participate in monthly JOHS Committee meeting and assist in the resolution of safety issues
