Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW:

The Safety Coordinator ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal health and safety regulations across Valley Cities’ facilities. This role supports the Director of Facilities Management in overseeing a comprehensive safety and emergency preparedness program that promotes a safe environment for clients, staff, and visitors.
This position will foster and maintain collaborative relationships with external agencies and provide advice and recommendations for safety improvements throughout the agency. The Safety Coordinator helps to establish a safe workplace for employees and a safe environment of care. While this position does require outreach visits to Valley Cities’ operational clinics, it is a highly administrative job and is an office-based position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides safety risk assessment and reviews of agency sites, safety/regulatory issues, and identification of problems on a Quarterly basis.
  • As a member of the Safety Committee - Works with the Safety Committee members to develop goals, annual objectives, and strategies for area(s) of responsibility.
  • Maintains and updates the Environment of Care and Emergency Operations Plans.
  • Coordinates related drills and leads as needed.
  • Provide guidance and assist in creating agency safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Provides staff training on safety policies, OSHA and WSHA regulations, environmental safety standards, fire prevention protocols, and hazardous material handling (e.g., SDS sheets).
  • Responsible for New Hire Orientation safety training.
  • Schedules and tracks required facility emergency drills and associated paperwork. Manages and leads annual all-agency emergency drill.
  • Makes safety recommendations for improvements quarterly.
  • Maintains inventory of safety supplies and works with agency vendors to ensure adequate stock is available at all agency facilities. Organizes, tracks, and coordinates the company’s Annual Safety Survey
  • Coordinates Active Threat training with on-site trainers for each property,
  • Creates Staff Safety Plans in collaboration with managers/Coordinators.
