STARTING SALARY: $62,000 - $93,000/YR

LOCATION: This role is located in Denver, CO and the incumbent will work a hybrid work schedule (a few days on-site and the rest of the week working from home). This role is not eligible for 100% remote/out of state work.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Risk Management department within the Mental Health Center of Denver (MHCD) is seeking a full-time Safety Coordinator to join our growing team. The position will include coordination, implementation, and expansion of safety programs across the entire organization.
MHCD is a large, well-established, innovative, and vibrant community mental health center that provides outpatient mental health services to individuals recovering from serious and persistent mental illness. MHCD is rapidly expanding and adding services to their portfolio. The safety coordinator position will help the Risk Management team in providing support in development and implementation of safety programs and procedures to support our current and new service offerings. This position will primarily focus on supporting our residential and community-based teams.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 1 year of health, safety and/or environmental related experience.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality in matters involving safety, security, and/or personnel issues.
  • Experience with OSHA regulations.
  • Frequent local travel between sites in the city of Denver is required.
  • Experience working in behavioral health field is a plus.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in a safety or security related field.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Highly organized, flexible, reasonable, and creative. Able to effectively manage large and complex workload. Ability to plan, prioritize, and schedule multiple work tasks.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable and skilled at presenting to groups and leading meetings.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with others and to work in an integrated team environment and with different teams in different Denver locations.
  • Enthused by a work culture that focuses on teamwork, collaboration, staff well-being, and a recovery focused, trauma-informed care approach to treatment of those we serve.
  • Ability to work with large degree of independence.
