POSITION OVERVIEW

A safety trainee will work under the mentorship of experienced safety professionals to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of workers and contractors on commercial construction sites. As well as be trained to identify hazards, implement safety protocols, and comply with all regulatory safety requirements.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a degree or coursework in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong interest in construction safety and a willingness to learn about safety regulations and practices.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with workers and management.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify hazards in the work environment.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to work on construction sites and adapt to a variety of work environments.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Previous experience in a construction-related field is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing environments.

  • Ability to deal with a variety of people from craft workers to project Owners.
  • Ability to maintain credibility with appropriate audiences each day.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good organizational and planning skills.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining safety programs and procedures for commercial construction sites.
  • Monitor and report on-site safety compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., OSHA standards).
  • Conduct site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Help develop and deliver safety training programs for workers, subcontractors, and management.
  • Assist in the investigation of accidents, near-misses, and safety incidents to identify root causes and ensure corrective measures are taken.
  • Maintain safety documentation, records, and reports in compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Promote a culture of safety by supporting safety initiatives and encouraging safety awareness among all team members.
  • Learn and apply best practices in construction safety management to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and other stakeholders to address safety concerns and improve site safety conditions.
