Description

Wesbell Communications is seeking a Safety & Fleet Coordinator to join our team in Vancouver, BC. The successful candidate will lead the implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of health, safety, and fleet programs across all Wesbell divisions in British Columbia. This is a critical role responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, supporting operations, and driving our commitment to a safe and efficient working environment.

EDUCATION (THEORETICAL TRAINING):

  1. Minimum high school diploma; post-secondary education in occupational health & safety, transportation, or a related field
  2. Post secondary diploma or certificate in related field preferred

JOB REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE:

  1. Minimum of 3 years of experience in health and safety program coordination, ideally within construction, telecom
  2. Strong working knowledge of British Columbia’s Workers Compensation Act and Occupational Health and Safety.
  3. Demonstrated understanding of National Safety Code (NSC) Standard 6 and its application to fleet management.
  4. Certified or willingness to become a COR Internal Auditor (British Columbia).
  5. NCSO designation would be a strong asset.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and mentor teams.
  7. Computer proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  8. Prior experience working at heights or in field environments is an asset.
  9. Must hold a valid driver’s license and be comfortable working in both office and field environments
  10. Must have the ability to motivate and mentor others

Responsibilities
  1. Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of Wesbell’s Health & Safety Management System in BC.
  2. Conduct regular site and internal audits to assess compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
  3. Maintain and update all health and safety documentation, policies, and reporting tools.
  4. Act as Chair of the Joint Health & Safety Committee; prepare meeting minutes and manage submissions.
  5. Investigate incidents, injuries, and near-misses; support supervisors in root cause analysis and prevention planning.
  6. Maintain training matrix and coordinate delivery of required safety training, including new hire orientations.
  7. Provide guidance to operations and field teams on safety procedures, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
  8. Support WSBC reporting requirements and Early Return to Work planning in partnership with Human Resources.
  9. Collaborate with management on COR program readiness and auditing efforts.
  10. Coordinate with other departments to ensure compliance with customer-specific safety requirements.
  11. Monitor and oversee the acquisition and use of personal protective equipment and safety supplies.
  12. Provide local support for fleet-related matters, including documentation, compliance with NSC regulations, and safe vehicle operation protocols.
  13. Occasionally deliver materials or provide fleet-related administrative support.
  14. Act as a safety and fleet resource during bid and RFQ processes.
  15. Represent Wesbell during external audits, inspections, and customer safety evaluations.
  16. Complete additional related duties as required by management.May be required to delivery material
