WHAT YOU’LL DO | HEI MAHI

Based in Favona, this hybrid role will see you support Distribution Centre’s across New Zealand, with travel to our regional DC’s as required. Drive the continuous improvement in critical risk management, effective control deployment and overall reduction of injuries and their severity, not to mention we like to have fun with safety - so you’ll help lead and deliver key safety initiatives that boost team engagement. Leading and developing your team of SH&W Specialists, you will:

  • Lead the Primary Connect SH&W team to deliver the Woolworths NZ safety, health & wellbeing strategy.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying, researching, and executing new safety workflows across the business.
  • Develop and implement a plan to reduce manual handling injuries and drive material/critical risk and control implementation.
  • Partner and engage with stakeholders and industry bodies on emerging risks across our end-to-end supply chain.
  • Ensure the business meets all internal and external regulatory obligations, including ACC self-assessment requirements and other monitoring and reporting requirements.

This is a highly collaborative role, where you’ll engage with operational management, frontline teams, and key 3PL partners to embed a strong safety culture and ensure effective risk management. To be successful in this role, your experience will likely reflect:

  • Extensive Health & Safety background (5+ years), with expertise in ACC AEP and critical risk management.
  • Proven ability to influence and build relationships with stakeholders to achieve positive safety outcomes.
  • Strong track record of delivering and executing safety programmes and initiatives across multi-site operations.
  • A solid problem-solver with the ability to perform detailed root cause analysis and find practical solutions.
  • Experienced in leading and mentoring teams, and effectively presenting safety information at all business levels
