The purpose of this position is to improve the environmental, health, and Safety performance of employees who work in the food manufacturing processes. Position requires a team player with basic knowledge of safety regulations and how they relate to various production processes, operations, equipment, and employees. The Safety lead will be responsible for first aid, emergency response, and the facility safety and environmental compliance. Follows and enforces employee’s safety procedures 2. Reports any unsafe conditions to immediate supervisor or manager 3. Follows, Monitors, and Enforces all food safety procedures 4. Follows and enforces SQF requirements (Facilities, Equipment, SSOP, SOP, GMP’s, and ETC) 5. Follows and enforces USDA & FDA guidelines and regulations.  6. Follows Company Policies, Regulations, and Lunch & Break Policies  Some of the duties of this position are those described below. Employees holding this position will be required to perform any other job-related duties as requested by management.   Position Area Duties (1-24 listed below) 1. Assist implementation of company Safety programs, to include developing Safety methods, procedures and policies based on company guidelines. Monitors and assists in Behavioral Based Safety Audits and provide feedback to leadership on level of engagement and compliance through regular reporting on audit details.  2. Works with EHS Operations leaders to ensure site is compliant with environmental hazards and raises concerns to respective COE leaders in the EHS department. 3. Supports facility in job hazard analysis and measures and evaluates effectiveness of Safety policies, completes needed recommendations through working with the Ops team and EHS department.  4. Supports and participates with the emergency response team (ERT), Safety committee, performing Safety and /or environmental training as requested by the EHS Manager  5. Inspects working conditions to ensure all products and activities are compliant with safety guidelines. 6. Responds to incidents with support of other departments regarding treatment, follow up, and internal reporting.  7. Participates in all internal and external audits and assist, as needed, with direction from ops leaders and EHS Manager. 8. Participates in new hire orientation as needed to speak about Safety expectations and help facilitate Safety compliance training under the direction of EHS guidance. 9. Oversees use of dangerous chemicals and machinery. 10. Produces reports detailing inspection process. 11. Provides feedback to production methods and employee activity that does not meet health and safety codes. 12. Recalls defective and unsafe products and machinery. 13. Enforces compliance with use of personal protective equipment 14. Keeps inventory and distribution logs of Personal Protective Equipment and safety tools given to team members 15. Supports during emergency evacuation process 16. Develop and maintain site Job Safety Analysis forms and Standard Operating Procedure documents. 17. Recommends appropriate risk mitigation measures to leadership team members, including ergonomic considerations, in all such efforts. 18. Responsible for incident notification via e-mail and text notification to members of plant leadership 19. Conducts site housekeeping inspections. 20. Provides real-time translation support during associate incident interviews, training sessions and other safety related group communications. 21. Conducts regular floor safety observations with either positive reinforcement or coaching. 22. Track and provide analysis of site for safety reporting metrics. 23. Promote and maintain high employee morale and safety. 24. Maintains accurate daily, weekly, and monthly metrics reporting to onsite management teams and corporate based reporting systems 25. Enforces compliance with Department of Public Health recommendations for employees’ health and wellness   Requirements and Duties: 1. Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices required for employee practices in a USDA Establishment. 2. Knowledge of ( lock-out/tag-out) procedures and employee safety practices 3. Basic knowledge of company employee policies. 4. Demonstrates broad knowledge of state and federal safety guidelines for the workplace 5. Exhibits knowledge of appropriate emergency protocols 6. Possesses knowledge of legal repercussions of workplace accidents. 7. Demonstrates familiarity with job site machinery and products. 8. Possesses solid problem-solving and analytical abilities. 9. Works well with a team. 10. Demonstrates ability to remain calm and collective in the event of an emergency 11. Exceptional interpersonal, oral and business writing communication skills 12. Ability to work in deadline-oriented environment, with critical attention to detail, deadlines and accurate reporting  13. High energy, great interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with all levels in the organization  C. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE  1. High School/ G.E.D  2. Minimum 3 years’ experience on the field (Food Industry is a plus) 3. Computer experience with proficiency in Excel & Word & PowerPoint 4. Served on a Safety Committee  5. OSHA training preferred. 6. Previous experience as part of an emergency response team or first aid certified is a plus (Not required) 7. Experience in using a structured root cause analysis tool to identify root cause and establish action plans to remove hazards or guard against them.  After completing an application, qualified candidates will be scheduled for a phone screen followed by an interview with the HR management team.
