  • Proficiency in creating and managing safety reports, audits, and compliance documentation.

Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE:

The Health and Safety Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing the health and safety strategy for the entire organization, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and fostering a culture of safety. This role involves managing a team, setting policies, ensuring continuous improvements, and leading initiatives to minimize health and safety risks across all departments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Health and Safety Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive health and safety management system aligned with legal requirements, company goals, and industry standards (NEBOSH, OSHA, etc.).
  • Leadership and Team Management: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of health and safety professionals and ensure they have the resources and training to carry out their roles effectively.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the company remains compliant with health and safety legislation and regulations, including conducting audits and reviews to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Risk Management: Oversee and manage company-wide risk assessments and safety audits. Identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate or eliminate risks.
  • Policy Development: Create, review, and update company health and safety policies and procedures. Ensure all departments follow best practices and maintain safety standards.
  • Training and Development: Ensure all employees and managers are adequately trained in health and safety protocols, with a focus on continuous learning and improvement.
  • Accident and Incident Management: Lead investigations into accidents or incidents, ensuring detailed root cause analysis is performed, and corrective actions are put in place.
  • Health and Safety Culture: Foster a proactive health and safety culture across the organization by promoting awareness, organizing safety events, and encouraging employee involvement.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Provide regular reports to senior management on health and safety performance, incidents, trends, and improvements. Maintain accurate records for auditing purposes.
  • Emergency Planning: Oversee the development, implementation, and testing of emergency response procedures (e.g., fire evacuation, medical emergencies).
  • Supplier and Contractor Safety: Work with external contractors and suppliers to ensure they meet the company’s health and safety standards, including conducting regular assessments.
