POSITION SUMMARY:

This position assists the Vice President of Risk Management in developing, directing, and implementing corporate safety programs, policies and procedures. The role supports the Division Managers in adhering to DOT, FMCSR, OSHA, safety regulations and other contractual requirements, to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment by performing the functions personally or by supervision of others.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College degree in occupational safety and health or related field or in lieu of a degree, equivalent work experience in the safety field.
  • Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in occupational safety preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer literacy including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Integrity and the ability to handle confidential information.
  • Ability to handle difficult situations professionally and in a non-confrontational manner.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing, coordinating, and implementing corporate safety programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal transportation, health and safety rules and regulations.
  • Coordinate and monitor compliance with corporate substance abuse prevention program.
  • Coordinate and implement driver safety training for all divisions in compliance with appropriate regulations.
  • Insure employee compliance with corporate safety policy and transportation regulations.
  • Conduct accident investigations, including settling claims onsite when appropriate and completing appropriate documentation and filing claims.
  • Track monthly loss experience and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual loss reports for the Board. Analyze loss experience for trends and recommend loss control measures.
  • Implement and maintain an on-call response program for “after hours” and weekend safety incidents. Serve a regular rotation in the “after hours” safety program.
  • Coordinate Third Party Testing Program including insuring contract compliance, processing compliance paperwork and participating in quarterly audits.
  • Serve as corporate safety liaison with insurance carriers, claims administrators and adjusters, school districts, government transportation agencies, attorneys, and community emergency personnel.
  • Investigate and resolve driving complaints including conducting driver surveillance when necessary.
  • Compile and submit all required regulatory reports.
  • Maintain all safety-related files and records.
  • Serve as chairperson of the company safety committee.
  • Submit biweekly safety articles to the company newsletter
  • Serve as public relations spokesperson on safety related issues when necessary.
  • Represent the Krapf organization at community or industry safety groups.
  • Maintain permits and complete paperwork for bridge permits and apply for new permits as needed.
  • Insure compliance with regulatory posting requirements at all sites.
  • Assist with coordinating the county and state driver safety competition.
  • Provide safety materials for driver meetings.
  • Other work-related duties as assigned.
