Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Are you an experienced safety professional looking for an opportunity to lead and make a meaningful impact? Noyen Construction Ltd. is seeking a Safety Manager to cover a maternity leave position for 12-16 months, with the potential for extension. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and enhancing Health & Safety strategies to foster a strong safety culture throughout our organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as the primary safety representative for Noyen Construction Ltd., liaising with clients and stakeholders professionally.
  • Lead and mentor a team of Health & Safety Advisors, promoting a high-performance safety culture.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive safety strategies in line with company objectives and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct and oversee safety investigations and inspections, ensuring root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Create and implement Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Safe Work Procedures tailored to project sites.
  • Analyze safety performance metrics, identifying trends and areas for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with OHS regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
  • Stay informed about legislative and regulatory changes, updating training and processes accordingly.
  • Drive proactive risk management, hazard identification, and safety process enhancements.
  • Monitor and assess employees and subcontractors for compliance with safety policies and General Contractor Safety Requirements.
  • Develop and conduct weekly safety meetings for ongoing awareness and training.
  • Facilitate worker orientations for new and returning employees.
  • Maintain and update safety databases, including: SiteDocs, ComplyWorks, ISNetWorld, Avetta, Can Qual (Contractor Xchange)
  • Balance field and office responsibilities, with approximately 70% fieldwork in the summer and 60% office work in the winter.
  • Collaborate with managers and supervisors to support: Hazard identification and control, Inspections/Audits, Investigations, Reports, Orientations, Training, Safety meetings.
