Description Apple Towing & Auctioneering Co. is seeking an experienced and motivated Safety Manager to oversee DOT compliance, driver safety, fleet safety programs, and towing industry regulatory requirements. This position plays a critical role in maintaining compliance with FMCSA, DOT, OSHA, TDLR, and company safety standards while supporting daily towing and transportation operations. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of towing/trucking regulations, accident prevention, driver qualification management, and safety training programs. This role requires leadership, organization, accountability, and the ability to work directly with drivers, management, and field personnel in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Manage and maintain FMCSA and DOT compliance programs Monitor driver logs, ELD compliance, and Hours of Service requirements Manage and oversee the Avatar Fleet system for driver, vehicle, and compliance tracking Administer and maintain the Samsara platform including GPS tracking, dash cameras, ELD compliance, safety monitoring, and reporting Monitor fleet telematics data and driver behavior to improve safety performance and operational efficiency Generate and review Samsara safety reports, alerts, and coaching documentation for drivers Conduct safety audits, inspections, and internal investigations Develop and conduct safety meetings and ongoing training programs Investigate accidents, incidents, claims, and near-miss events Track and manage corrective action plans and safety performance metrics Ensure compliance with OSHA, TDLR, and company safety policies Coordinate vehicle inspections, maintenance compliance, and out-of-service repairs Maintain accurate records for audits, insurance, and regulatory agencies Work closely with operations management to improve fleet safety and reduce risk exposure Respond professionally to emergencies and time-sensitive compliance matters Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience in DOT safety, transportation safety, towing, trucking, or fleet compliance Strong understanding of FMCSA regulations and DOT compliance requirements Experience with towing operations strongly preferred Knowledge of DQ files, drug and alcohol consortiums, ELD systems, and accident investigations Ability to interpret and enforce safety policies and procedures Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety/compliance software systems Valid driver’s license required Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities Preferred Qualifications Towing industry experience Experience with fleet management systems and compliance platforms Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
