SUMMARY:

Trancasa USA, Inc. is seeking a DOT Safety Manager to ensure the safety and compliance of personnel and equipment. Responsibilities include overseeing driver hours of service, trailer registrations, DOT mechanical inspections, and providing safety training. The role also involves managing accident investigations, promoting a safety culture, monitoring operations, and reviewing permits and violations. The supervisor will also provide safety reports, scorecards, and ensure accountability for preventable accidents.

  • Strong understanding of federal and state safety regulations, including FMCSR and OSHA standards.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee and ensure compliance with drivers’ hours of service regulations.
  • Supervise the registration process for trailer units.
  • Ensure proper documentation and control of mechanical inspections (DOT) for units and trailers.
  • Provide training on occupational safety, transportation regulations, electronic logging, and the proper use of hours of service.
  • Manage plate procedures and coordinate registration with local authorities.
  • Monitor the activities of traffic controllers and express lane operations.
  • Support the safety and security of the operating yard, workshop, and office environments.
  • Review and verify Mexican (B1) permits for units and trailers.
  • Identify and report violations using Samsara camera footage.
  • Investigate accidents and near-miss incidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Promote a positive safety culture by encouraging employees to report hazards and prioritize safety.
  • Oversee the Accident Management process, including reporting, investigation, documentation, and incident management.
  • Review accident files for accuracy and completeness of necessary documentation.
  • Serve as the gatekeeper for preventable accident decisions.
  • Ensure proper accountability is maintained for preventable accidents.
  • Provide comprehensive monthly reports with appropriate safety metrics.
  • Deliver monthly scorecards, incorporating national tactics and activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
