BronxWorks helps individuals and families improve their economic and social well-being. From toddlers to seniors, we feed, shelter, teach, and support our neighbors to build a stronger community. Across our 60+ locations, we provide programs in a variety of service areas, including workforce development, children, youth, families, seniors and homeless prevention.  The Living Room is the BronxWorks central location for its adult homeless services. BronxWorks operates three 24-hour programs that include a drop-in center, a 50-bed safe haven for chronically street homeless adults, and our borough wide mobile street outreach program. All of the programs provide direct services to street homeless individuals in the Bronx including case management, food, clothing, emergency shelter, referrals to NYC shelters, and permanent housing placement. RESPONSIBILITIES  * Ensure the security of the premises and perform access control * Perform regular and frequent foot patrol of the entire facility, per schedule * Enforce facility, BronxWorks, Department of Homeless Services, and other regulatory policies and procedures · Promptly inform appropriate supervisors of problems, concerns, incidents * Act as a role model in maintaining order and promoting safety * Supervise and perform client service tasks, including providing information on meals, distributing passes, supporting enforcement of meal times * Act professionally and with empathy towards clients; utilize appropriate de-escalation, crisis intervention, and appropriate incident management skills * Respond promptly and in compliance with established policies and procedures to onsite observed or suspected physical or verbal altercations * Respond promptly and in compliance with established policies and procedures to onsite medical emergencies * Respond promptly and in compliance with established policies and procedures to observed or suspected child abuse and neglect * Act as the liaison with police and other emergency services  * Act as designated Fire Safety Coordinator or Fire Guard as needed  * Complete all required documentation of activities promptly, completely, and in the appropriate format (i.e.., written incident report, AWARD or CARES database, etc.) * Report on time and prepared for work for all scheduled shifts, gathering and providing information in compliance with policies and procedures * Remain at post until staff for the following shift are present and prepared to assume post * Participate in all trainings and staff meetings · Perform additional duties as assigned by a supervisor    QUALIFICATIONS  * New York State Security Guard Registration Card * 16 Hour On-The-Job Security Guard Training Certificate * First Aid / CPR Certificate – Preferred * HS diploma or GED are preferred but not required * New York Fire Department Certificate of Fitness as Fire Guard, Shelters – Preferred. * Ability to write a clear and concise incident report. * Engaging personality and detailed orientated skills are essential.  * Strong oral and written communication, time management and organizational skills are necessary. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other standard business technology is required.   Must obtain the following within 3 months of hire, and maintain throughout employment: * FDNY F80 Fire Safety Coordinator certification, FDNY F-02 Certificate of Fitness for Fire Guard for Shelters, CPR/First Aid, Narcan administration, CPI Training/Certification  PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS  * Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.  * Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.  * Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time, or climb five flights of stairs, if required to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork.  * Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.  * Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.  * Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work. Responsibilities
