Job Description Why this role matters The OHS Officer supports day-to-day safety implementation at the STP by enforcing safe work practices, monitoring compliance, conducting field inspections, and supporting permits, training, and incident reporting. This role is execution-focused, not managerial. The officer follows established systems, procedures, and instructions and does not design safety frameworks or policies. What You'll drive ​​​​​​​ Field safety presence remain visible in operational areas during maintenance and routine activities. Actively monitor compliance with safety rules, Life Saving Rules, and site procedures. Intervene immediately in unsafe situations and stop work when required. Permit to work and LOTO support check that Permit to Work and Lockout Tagout requirements are applied correctly before and during tasks. Verify isolation points, tags, and coordination with supervisors. Escalate gaps immediately. Inspections and observations conduct routine safety inspections and OHS observations in operational areas such as MCC rooms, pump stations, sludge handling areas, confined spaces, and chemical zones. Record findings using approved formats and follow up on corrective actions. Toolbox talks and briefings deliver toolbox talks using prepared material. Ensure attendance is recorded. Reinforce task-specific hazards before high-risk activities such as confined space entry, lifting, electrical works, and chemical handling. PPE Monitoring check correct PPE use and condition in the field. Verify suitability based on task and area. Report shortages, misuse, or damage. No PPE policy writing is required. Incident and near-miss reporting assist in reporting incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions. Collect basic facts, photos, and statements. Support investigations led by the OHS Engineer. Training and Induction support site inductions and On-the-Job Maintenance Training sessions. Ensure attendance records are completed and submitted. Housekeeping and site order monitor housekeeping standards in operational areas. Coordinate with supervisors to correct poor conditions that may lead to slips, trips, fire risks, or access obstruction. Documentation and records maintain basic OHS records such as inspection checklists, PTW logs, training attendance sheets, and observation trackers. Submit reports on time without chasing. Coordination and escalation raise safety concerns promptly to the OHS Engineer or O&M Manager. Do not wait, assume, or resolve issues beyond authority.
