Description

The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) guidelines at construction sites. The role focuses on promoting a safe working environment, preventing accidents, and ensuring adherence to legal and company safety standards.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field.
  • Certified in Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Safety Officer in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction safety regulations, codes, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced construction environment.
Responsibilities
  • Implement, monitor and maintain safety policies, procedures, and programs at construction sites.
  • Conduct daily site inspections to identify hazards and unsafe practices, and enforce corrective measures.
  • Ensure compliance with local workplace safety regulations and statutory requirements.
  • Prepare risk assessments, method statements, and safety reports for construction activities.
  • Organize and conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and training sessions for workers.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and recommend preventive measures.
  • Maintain proper records of safety inspections, training, and incidents.
  • Ensure that all safety equipment (PPE, fire extinguishers, first aid kits) is available, maintained, and used correctly.
  • Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, and site management on safety-related matters.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by encouraging safe work practices and recognizing safe behavior.
