Description

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Safety Officer to join our team on a busy civil engineering site. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations, and for promoting a strong safety culture across the project.
This is a hands-on role, requiring regular site inspections, workforce engagement, and close collaboration with project managers, supervisors, and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and monitor site-specific health and safety policies, procedures, and risk assessments.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety walkdowns to ensure compliance with legislation and company standards.
  • Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing training to site personnel.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE, machinery, and equipment in line with statutory requirements.
  • Liaise with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to resolve safety issues promptly.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement in workplace safety and wellbeing.

Requirements

  • NEBOSH / IOSH or equivalent health and safety qualification.
  • Previous experience as a Safety Officer (preferably in civil engineering or construction).
  • Strong knowledge of HSE legislation and best practices in construction.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence and motivate others.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to risk management.
  • IT skills for preparing reports, safety statistics, and documentation.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: €55,000.00-€85,000.00 per year
