Responsibilities

THE ROLE

The Safety Officer at Patties Food Group plays a pivotal role within the business to ensure develop, implement and maintain Work Health and Safety polices and manage best practices to ensure a healthy and safety workplace for all employees, in this case based in our Adelaide site. Reporting to the Operations Manager, your duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to;

  • Work responsibly to enhance personal and workplace safety, demonstrating leadership in safety awareness.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Safety and OHS to create, implement, and review Safe Work Procedures and Risk Assessments.
  • Perform site-based audits and safety walks to identify and address risks.
  • Focus on reducing Lost Time Injuries (LTI) and Medical Treatment Injuries (MTI) and their severity.
  • Act as the RTW Coordinator, handling workers’ compensation and return-to-work processes for injured employees.
  • Present safety briefs to site management teams, providing updates on safety statistics and actions.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies to maintain compliance with mandatory regulations and safety standards.
  • Coach employees and managers on health and safety initiatives and ensure appropriate training and resources for first aid.

The successful applicant for the role will have demonstrated experience in a similar role, ideally within the FMCG industry as well as;

  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in similar role
  • Be able to contribute to a positive and professional team environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient use of the Microsoft Suite (Word, Outlook and Excel)
  • Ability to influence and make decisions
  • Mechanical aptitude or prior manufacturing experience would be desirabl
