Position Summary The Safety Officer will support the development, execution, and monitoring of safety programs, conduct field audits, assist with training, and help ensure compliance with applicable OSHA and environmental requirements. This position is well suited to a hands-on safety professional who is comfortable in field environments and motivated to grow their technical expertise within a structured safety program. This role plays a key part in promoting a strong safety culture, supporting field teams, and helping implement practical safety and environmental controls aligned with company standards and regulatory expectations. This role requires approximately 50% travel across the United States, supporting multiple work sites and operational teams. Key Responsibilities · Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of health and safety programs, procedures, and training initiatives aligned with company operations and regulatory requirements. · Promote proactive hazard identification, risk reduction, and continuous improvement across field operations. · Assist leadership and field supervision in reinforcing safety expectations and accountability. · Support compliance with applicable environmental requirements related to field operations, including spill prevention, waste handling, fuel storage, and housekeeping controls. · Assist with environmental incident reporting, response coordination, and corrective action tracking when required. · Promote environmental awareness and environmentally responsible work practices among field teams. · Conduct routine and ad hoc site visits to identify hazards, verify compliance, and assess operational risk. · Document findings clearly and support the development, communication, and follow-up of corrective actions. · Assist with investigations of incidents, near misses, and safety concerns. · Deliver and support safety training related to hazard awareness, job-specific risks, emergency response, and safe work practices. · Engage directly with frontline employees, supervisors, and managers to reinforce safe behaviors and practical compliance. · Support onboarding and refresher training initiatives as required. · Support compliance with applicable OSHA requirements and internal company safety standards. · Assist with regulatory inquiries, inspections, and internal compliance reviews as needed. · Work under guidance to expand knowledge of regulatory interpretation and enforcement practices. · Assist with incident reporting, investigation and corrective actions process, as required. · Provide general safety and environmental support to field operations, including emergency preparedness and special projects as assigned. Qualifications & Experience · 2-5 years of experience in a safety-related role within construction, traffic control, utilities, or a similar field-based environment. · Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and general workplace safety principles. · Experience conducting site inspections, identifying hazards, and documenting findings. · Strong written and verbal communication skills. · Ability to work independently in field environments with remote supervision. · Exposure to environmental compliance topics such as spill response, waste management, or environmental incident reporting (Preferred). Requirements * Education in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, or a related field.
