Description
Overview Carolina Poly, Inc. located in Chester, SC, is currently seeking a Safety and Environmental Coordinator to join our team. Carolina Poly produces several lines of polyethylene products including high quality trash bags and construction films Responsibilities Assists safety and environmental management staff with federal, state and local regulation compliance, including applicable OSHA (29 CFR), EPA (40 CFR), and TCEQ standards. Conducts safety and environmental audits. Maintains a basic knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements and required programs such as: lockout tagout, hazard communication, hearing conservation, emergency action/evacuation, fire prevention/protection, machine guarding/labeling, hazardous materials, fall protection/prevention, confined spaces, combustible dust, blood borne pathogens, respiratory protection, SWPPP, SPCC, hazardous waste, and others. Collects, and maintains safety and environmental records. Coordinates disposal of hazardous waste and other regulated materials. Oversees and inspects fire extinguishers, shower/eye stations. Develops, publishes, and maintains electronic machine guarding inspection checklists. Conducts contractor orientation classes. Qualifications Minimum of 2-years’ experience in the Safety/Environmental field, preferably in a manufacturing environment Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Business, or other relevant field is required Practical experience in OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and EPA 40 CFR Working knowledge of basic software applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.) Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization in all formats, including verbal, written & presentations Familiar with federal safety (OSHA) regulations and required programs in the manufacturing environment (29 CFR 1910) Limited travel CSP (Certified Safety Professional) certification preferred
Responsibilities
The Safety Professional will assist safety and environmental management staff with compliance to regulations and conduct audits. They will also maintain safety records and oversee the disposal of hazardous waste.
