KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Analyzes the quality of information being collected within the Health and Safety system with the goal to improve insights and safety outcomes. This includes making suggestions for changes to data points collected as part of safety processes and establishing, producing and providing reports.
Analyzes health and safety system data to identify injury and incident trends by conducting deep dives into incident records, databases, metrics and other corporate indicators. Presents findings and makes recommendations to the safety team with respect to opportunities for incident and injury prevention campaigns. Provides unbiased assistance in the development of those campaigns.
Analyzes confidential data sources to identify meaningful correlations between causal factors and safety outcomes, applying judgment to determine which insights are appropriate to escalate or share for organizational learning and improvement. Based on findings, makes recommendations for corrective actions, inclusive of disciplinary actions, policy and procedure changes, and other actions as appropriate.
Accesses and reviews sensitive data sources to provide data for incident investigations, incident contributing factors, corrective actions, employee discipline records, attendance history, commendations and complaints, training records and claims history.
Provides backup to the Senior Safety Analyst, where required, including providing specialized analysis and advice on Violence Prevention that includes comprehensive data collection and analysis of assaults against CMBC staff; develops victim impact statements, liaises with Transit Police, CMBC Security and the Crown Counsel on active police and court files and attends trials related to assaults on CMBC staff.
Maintains a solid level of knowledge of the health and safety software system to provide functional expertise to support the day-to-day operation of the system, including user support and troubleshooting, dashboard and report development, and liaising with the product sustainment team. Uses analytics to understand the health and safety software system’s efficiencies and gaps and make recommendations for improved functionality.
Coordinates, communicates with, and provides support to a network of health and safety software admin level users, ensuring they are provided with the necessary knowledge and tools to support local users of the software across the TransLink Enterprise. This includes understanding varying local needs, providing input on training materials, updating user guides, and meeting in-person with software admin level users. ’.
Support Safety, Environment, and Emergency Management project development and implementation by participating on project development teams, participate in various committees and support procurement processes, as required. Assists with the integration of management system changes into the health and safety software system
Support emergency management activities in major emergencies and disasters, as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

The requirements for this job are acquired through completion diploma in Data Analytics combined with advanced working knowledge of the configuration, functionality and sustainment of software systems (health and safety preferred) or a minimum of five years of related experience. A degree or diploma and/or related experience in safety, environment, and/or emergency management will be considered a strong asset.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Advanced working knowledge of data analytics, including identifying correlations, establishing limits of control, developing metrics and utilizing analytical techniques to improve safety outcomes.
Solid knowledge of the concepts, principles, practices, and techniques pertaining to safety, and/or environmental management and software used to support these functions.
Strong interpersonal, writing, communications, and presentation skills to liaise with stakeholders across the Enterprise, to participate in internal committees and teams, and to liaise with other organizations.
Excellent time management skills to balance and coordinate effort across multiple, concurrent activities and manage priorities to meet tight deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to handle and manage sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner.
Advanced technical skills in PowerBI, Microsoft Office software including Excel, PowerPoint and database software, and the ability to become proficient in other specialized software applications.
Effective analytical and problem solving and decision-making skills to identify innovative approaches and recommended solutions to mitigate risks to business.
