MINIMUM POSITION KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial hygiene, environmental, health, occupational health, safety management or other associated technical discipline. Two (2) years of additional experience in government contracting, U.S. Military or a related field may be substituted for each year of the four (4) years of college.
  • Six (6) years’ progressively responsible experience in any combination within program management, plant & operations management, industrial hygiene, safety or environmental compliance preferred.
  • Five (5) years of occupational health, industrial hygiene and/or safety operations experience preferred.
  • Accredited EHS Certifications preferred including Certified Industrial Hygienist or Certified Environmental Health Professional or Certified Safety Professional.
  • Knowledge of EHS policies, processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in occupational health and safety, worker exposure issues, inspection, audit, corrective actions and safe work practices.
  • Ability to read and write English is required.
  • Solid communications skills, strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to work as a member of a diverse, dynamic team.
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
  • Requires sponsored by a MP-ICAM Trusted Agent with a favorable background check with current cybersecurity training.
  • Non-U.S. personnel will not be granted a U.S. Common Access Cards (CACs) and must follow procedures for badging and access to Government facilities or installations. Instead, non-US personnel are issued Network Enterprise Alternate Token (NEAT), which is a smart-card for accessing the unclassified AFNet or DoD network.
  • Candidate should be other country national (OCN) or local national (LN).
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, passport from their country have ability to obtain any visa required.
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
  • Prior overseas government contracting experience preferred.
Responsibilities

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Works with site program management to maintain health, and safety programs, to include policies, processes, procedures and controls. Ensures contract performance conforms to established standards, requirements and governmental agency guidelines, resulting in a safe and healthy workplace and ensuring customer satisfaction. This position is in support of the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) and is located at Ascension Island Auxiliary Airfield (AAAF).

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implements and maintains required occupational health and industrial hygiene operational procedures to ensure company and employee awareness, comprehension and adherence to approved health and safety practices for assigned program.
  • Conducts occupational health/industrial hygiene and safety inspections/observations/risk assessments/audits of contract operations and subcontractors.
  • Assesses occupational exposures to workplace conditions potentially affecting worker health and safety and provides recommendations on improving the safety of workers.
  • Performs occupational health/industrial hygiene inspections, surveillance, and formal audits to ensure compliance with program requirements.
  • Provides response to customer concerns and findings. Tracks corrective actions taken in response to internal and customer audit findings to ensure a safe and healthful working environment, and appropriate worker personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ensures compliance with Federal OSHA requirements to include worker exposure issues such as noise (auditory), inhalation (respiratory), etc.
  • Conducts technical research to assess and mitigate risk to chemical exposure, noise exposure, air quality issues, ergonomics, radiation and other potential exposure risk issues.
  • Conducts training programs on occupational health issues in accordance with the EHS Management Plan and include program specific training in support of the workforce and work conducted.
  • Acts as a direct representative of the Company to the customer.
  • Establishes and communicates program metrics as needed.
  • Maintains awareness of regulatory changes and disseminates safety-related bulletins, technical changes and literature to work site personnel.
  • Conducts incident investigations to determine root cause and recommended corrective actions.
  • Maintains technical library.
  • Ensures injury, incident, HAZMAT and adverse trend tracking and reporting.
  • Acts as a back up to the other EHS staff when they are off island or on R&R.
  • Provides leadership and knowledge to staff members and teams as necessary. Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
