Description

At Bavarian Nordic, we’re driven by a shared purpose: to save and improve lives through cutting-edge vaccines that unlock the power of the immune system. Whether it’s protecting people from smallpox and mpox, or helping travellers and children avoid rabies, tick-borne encephalitis, typhoid, or cholera – we take pride in knowing our work has real impact.
We’re more than just science and systems. We’re people with a heart, working as one global team to protect lives. If you’re someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment and brings both expertise and curiosity to the table, you might be just the person we’re looking for.
About the Role
As a Safety Scientist, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the safety of our vaccines, from clinical development to post-marketing surveillance. You’ll work closely with safety physicians and regulatory colleagues across the globe, supporting everything from individual case management to aggregate safety analyses.

You’ll be a trusted team member and a key contributor in:

  • Managing clinical safety and pharmacovigilance cases during trials and after licensure
  • Preparing high-quality safety data for benefit-risk assessments, regulatory filings, and external presentations
  • Supporting internal and external safety-related inquiries
  • Acting as a core member of the Safety Management Team
  • Overseeing aggregate reports and Risk Management Plan (RMP) tracking
  • Ensuring compliance with SOPs and regulatory standards
  • Supporting audits and inspections, and bringing a proactive mindset to risk readiness

What You Bring
You’re not just skilled – you’re thoughtful, detail-oriented, and collaborative. You enjoy translating complex safety data into clear, actionable insights. And above all, you’re motivated by purpose.

To succeed in this role, you’ll likely bring:

  • A degree in medicine or natural sciences (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in clinical safety or pharmacovigilance, ideally within biotech, pharma, or a CRO
  • A solid understanding of international PV regulations and reporting requirements
  • Experience with MedDRA, safety databases, and tools like MS Office
  • Excellent communication skills in German and English

Most importantly, you’re:

  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, ever-changing environment
  • Self-driven and accountable, yet a true team player
  • Open-minded, adaptable, and always eager to learn

What We Offer

We’re proud of our impact and know it takes us all to get there. At Bavarian Nordic, you’ll find:

  • A flexible, inclusive, and international work culture
  • Opportunities to grow – both personally and professionally
  • A sense of purpose in your everyday work
  • A team that values authenticity, curiosity, and courage
