Position Summary: The Safety Specialist supports the development, implementation, and monitoring of safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements. This role plays a vital part in fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement across all warehouse and transportation operations. The Safety Specialist reports directly to the Human Resource Director and is classified as a non-exempt, hourly position. Hours are Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm Key Responsibilities: Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments in warehouse and transportation areas. Assist in investigating accidents, incidents, and near-misses; identify root causes and recommend corrective actions. Support the implementation of safety training programs, including new hire orientations and refresher courses. Monitor and maintain safety equipment (e.g., fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, PPE) and ensure availability and compliance. Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training, incidents, and other compliance-related documentation. Promote adherence to federal, state, and company safety policies and procedures. Collaborate with operations, HR, and maintenance teams to address safety concerns proactively. Participate in emergency response planning and drills. Stay current with OSHA regulations and industry best practices. Requirements Qualifications: 2+ years of experience in a safety role required, preferably in a warehouse, logistics, or transportation environment. High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certification in safety, industrial hygiene, or a related field preferred. Working knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations. Strong observational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Physical Requirements: Ability to walk and stand for extended periods. Ability to climb, squat, twist, and bend as needed. Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. Comfortable working in varying environmental conditions (hot/cold, indoor/outdoor).
