Description
We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Telecommunications Construction Safety Specialist to support safety compliance and training across our fiber optic and utility construction projects in the Greensboro area. The ideal candidate will be OSHA 500 certified and authorized to lead OSHA 10- and 30-Hour Construction courses, as well as First Aid/CPR trainings for field staff.   Job Description:  The Safety Specialist position will be responsible for ensuring that all safety standards are met within the company.       Job Responsibilities:  * Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits across multiple job sites * Lead safety training programs, including OSHA 10/30 and First Aid/CPR * Monitor compliance with OSHA, federal, state (NC DOL), and local regulations * Support incident investigations and complete root cause analyses and corrective actions * Understand what job hazard analyses (JHAs) are, and advise on safe work procedures for telecom workers * Track training certifications and safety documentation for internal teams and subcontractors * Serve as a resource to field supervisors and crews on day-to-day safety questions and needs. * Maintains records and files of all surveys, inspections and incidents to assure compliance with UniTek corporate, state, and federal requirements pertaining to reporting hazardous incidents, motor vehicle accidents and personal injuries  * Advises employees on how to prevent and reduce safety incidents  * Conducts continuing safety education training in safe work practices to maximize safety and generate a responsible employee attitude towards safety  * Perform regular and frequent on-site safety audits for both Subcontractors and in-house employees  * Participates in selected OSHA and Safety Certification courses as directed by UniTek Management  * Other duties as assigned  Qualifications   Qualifications:    Education:    * Associate degree in safety management or equivalent combination of education and experience in the safety related field; BS/BA Degree in Occupational Safety & Health preferred  * OSHA 500 Certification (authorized to instruct OSHA 10/30 Construction courses) * Certified First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor (Red Cross, AHA, or equivalent) * Minimum of 3–5 years of safety experience in telecommunications, utility, or general construction * Valid driver’s license and clean driving record * Experience with underground utility or fiber optic construction * Familiarity with telecom construction hazards (e.g., trenching, aerial work, confined space, fall protection) * Proficient in Microsoft Office.  
Responsibilities
