Description
This role ensures the highest standards of safety performance are upheld through proactive systems, procedures, training, and reporting, while working closely with Exploration Managers, Site Senior Executive (SSE) and other stakeholders both on-lease and off-lease. Harmony is the largest gold producer by volume in South Africa and is a significant operator of gold tailings retreatment facilities. In Papua New Guinea, Harmony owns and operates the Hidden Valley mine and owns 50% of the Tier 1 Wafi-Golpu copper-gold project. In Australia, Harmony owns the high-grade CSA copper mine in Cobar, NSW and is constructing the Eva Copper Mine in Cloncurry, QLD. These assets are supported by the Harmony Australasia regional corporate office located in Milton, Brisbane. The Eva Copper Mine is a significant and strategically important project for Harmony marking a major milestone in the company’s copper growth strategy and its long-term commitment to Northwest Queensland. The mine will have a minimum life of 15 years and will involve mining multiple open cut pits providing copper bearing ore to a concentrator. Front-end engineering design is complete, and mine construction is expected to take up to 30 months with first production targeted for the second half of the 2028 calendar year.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain effective safety management systems and practices across exploration tenure to ensure high safety performance. Collaborate with Exploration Managers and stakeholders to implement proactive procedures, training, and reporting.
