The Safety Supervisor is responsible for managing the administration of occupational safety programs within the SNF business and participating as a member of the overall Riceboro Site Safety Team. Counsels supervisors and other members of management on the application of sound safety and industrial hygiene principles and practices in support of corporate objectives. The Safety Supervisor ensures the Chemtall Safety operational plans are aligned with business and site/corporate safety objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Recognize safe workers and good behavior.
  • Develop and enhance safety and health policies and procedures.
  • Performs job-related special assignments as required.
  • Review personal protective equipment use and recommend improvements as needed.
  • Plan, conduct and participate in various safety meetings.
  • Provide Data Analysis to Safety Team and Managers.
  • Participate at the Safety Committee meetings.
  • Ensure reporting of near misses, first aids, or serious accidents.
  • Participates in new equipment/process reviews, including hazard analyses and operator training.
  • Involve in the investigation of incidents, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive measures.
  • Monitor safety education/training efforts for all levels of employees within Chemtall, including supervision and senior management.
  • Review all safety documentation and reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Create and conduct job hazard analyses and risk assessments to proactively identify potential business and employee risks.
  • Support core competency of Environmental and PSM for the site and corporate management.
  • Participate as a member of the Riceboro Site Safety Team in developing strategic plans, policies, and decisions.
  • Contributes to safety and organization success by welcoming related, different, and new requests; helping others accomplish job results.
  • Support PSM efforts for the site and company-wide management.
  • Build safety awareness through safety meetings, inspections, training, discussions, and communications.
  • Communicate safety concerns or needs to appropriate personnel.
  • Improves production process job knowledge by attending production meetings; visiting production areas; establishing personal networks, and participating in operator training.
  • Functioning as Chemtall RCMS Coordinator.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma required. Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Safety, Engineering, or related field highly preferred.
  • 4-6 years relevant chemical manufacturing experience preferred.
  • 4-6 years of experience in a leadership role is required.
  • Familiar with federal and state regulatory requirements in air, water, stormwater, wastewater, hazardous waste, solid waste, and OSHA.
  • A wide degree of creativity and self-direction is required.
  • Strong auditing skills (processes and system applications).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a dynamic team.
  • Detail-oriented, able to adhere to deadlines, and have strong technical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with a multi-departmental team.
  • Ability to quickly learn new system applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative.
