Position Summary
The Health and Safety Supervisor at the Stella-Jones manufacturing plant in Tacoma is responsible for ensuring Health and Safety compliance at the facility while also supporting a proactive culture of safety.
This is a full-time, on-site position, typically scheduled Monday through Friday on the second shift (4:00 pm to 12:00 am), with flexibility for occasional off-shift coverage as needed.

CANDIDATES MAY QUALIFY THROUGH ONE OF THREE DIFFERENT PATHS:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Safety, Occupational Health, or a related field (additional work experience a plus, but not required)
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) plus significant manufacturing or industrial safety work experience
  • Extensive work experience in a related field with transferable safety, process and/or organizational skills

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office
  • Experience in implementing safety management systems or programs preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to train and educate staff on environmental & safety protocols and regulations
  • Teamwork and collaboration skills
  • (Preferred) OSHA-authorized safety certifications applicable to industrial or wood products manufacturing, such as OSHA 30-hour General Industry, OSHA 511, or OSHA 510

Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and employee training
  • Implement Health and Safety policies, programs, and procedures
  • Perform accident and incident investigations
  • Collaborate with and provide guidance to department supervisors and plant employees on safety and health matters
  • Foster employee engagement in safety initiatives, including committee participation and continuous improvement activities
  • Ensure accurate and timely Health and Safety reporting and recordkeeping
  • Stay current on OSHA regulations and update policies as needed
  • Participate in occasional travel to EHS training events
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
