Description Circuit of The Americas (COTA) is a 365-entertainment destination for world-class events located in Austin, TX. The sports and entertainment portfolio at COTA is unmatched in the country with Formula 1 US Grand Prix, NASCAR, and MotoGP attracting global fans during championship races on the famed Circuit and LiveNation producing over 30 headline concerts every year at the Germania Insurance Amphitheater. Job Description: The Safety Team member is responsible for the safety of race operations at COTA and the facility. This includes EMS, fire suppression, track inspections, vehicle recovery, track clean up, and working with other members of the COTA staff in maintaining a safe racing environment. Responsibilities: Respond to on-track incidents Be able to provide care for the driver Be able to provide fire suppression Be able to perform driver extrication Be able to assist in vehicle recovery and work with assisting the wreckers and rollbacks Be able to assist in fluid clean up and picking of debris on the track Be able to assist in track maintenance in the repair of walls and fencing Be able to work as a pit lane firefighter as needed Be able to work as ground EMS for MotoGP events Capable of performing morning inspection checks of vehicles Work side by side with other members of the team Observe track and facility safety and security procedures Other duties as assigned Requirements Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Will need to learn how to communicate with race control and track personnel Executes proven processes and looks for a way to improve processes to track safety Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness Maintains confidentiality Maintains professional behavior and appearance Must have the ability to listen to the direction without interruption during stressful and fast-paced events Must have the ability to keep emotions under control during stressful and fast-paced events Able to read and interpret written information Requirements: EMT Basic or higher license is recommended Firefighter I or equivalent is recommended English speaking Ability to work long hours and with a dynamic schedule Ability to work a minimum of 3 days per month Ability to work both weekends and weekdays Ability to work the entire weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) of at least 2 major events during a calendar year Wear proper personal protective equipment for the task Have a valid driver's license Physical Demands: The employee must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs Must be able to endure seasonal temperatures as working conditions require constant outdoor work Must be able to run short distances and able to move over 3-foot walls Must be able to run and walk through track gravel traps Work environment: While working in this position the employee is occasionally exposed to high-speed traffic, moving mechanical parts, wet or humid conditions, outdoor weather conditions, and hot and cold temperatures The noise level in the work environment is often high As a track safety member you may be exposed and required to care for injured personnel Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this job.
