POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are hiring Safety Technician 3. The Safety Technician is responsible for monitoring, evaluating, and ensuring that all safety protocols and procedures are followed during hazardous operations and standard work. This includes conducting site safety assessments, ensuring proper use of safety equipment, providing safety training, and mitigating risks associated with the handling and use of explosives and hazardous materials. This is a full-time, 9-80 schedule (4 days on 3 days off, 5 days on 2 days off), permanent position.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent required, bachelor’s degree is a plus.
- 35 years of safety experience in the explosives or similar highrisk industry
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards, particularly those relevant to explosive materials.
- Ability to perform hazard assessments and implement safety measures.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to train and work with team members.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR.
- Physical ability to work in potentially hazardous environments (indoors and outside) and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Ability to work in a teamoriented environment and demonstrate a commitment to safety.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (FOR HIGHER LEVELS):
- Relevant Safety certifications (e.g., OSHA, CPR/First Aid, HAZMAT, DoD 4145.26M).
- Prior experience working with developing and testing explosives or energetics.
- Proven strong problemsolving and analytical skills.
ITAR Requirements: To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds; may require minimal walking, standing for extended amounts of time, climbing, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
Security Clearance: May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Requires U.S. Citizenship. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
