Job Details Job Location: EWH - Sherman, TX Position Type: Full Time Salary Range: Undisclosed Job Shift: Day Description Title: Safety & Training Officer Functional Area: All Production Departments Reports to: General Manager Position Description: The primary purpose of the position is the management and improvement of all safety systems and processes in order to eliminate injuries and drive the overall safety performance of the company. Additionally, the role is responsible for coordinating and conducting all training for safety and quality systems. Safety & Training Officer Responsibilities: Essential Job Functions: Develop safety systems, organize all documentation, and ensure that all safety training is conducted thoroughly and timely. Thoroughly investigate all workplace safety incidents, driving to root causes and developing corrective and preventive actions. Communicate all findings to the organization including all operations personnel. Drive continuous improvement using tools and activities, including self-assessments and audit processes; incident/near miss investigations; metrics and targets (leading and lagging indicators); and periodic reviews of performance, culture, and talent Work with HR to manage all Worker’s Compensation claims with goal of reducing costs to the company while ensuring appropriate care of employees. Ensure that all new hires are thoroughly oriented to the safety hazards and requirements for their position. Ensure adequate and appropriate supply of all safety equipment and supplies. Conduct Risk Assessments on any process changes, projects or improvements. Conduct Risk Assessment on all contractor work and audit contractor work areas. Lead Safety Committee to develop improvement actions from Operator input. Conduct training and retraining of all personnel as warranted and required. Key Competencies: Performing all job functions in a safe manner, follow and enforce all TRIDENT policies and procedures. Critical evaluation of systems and procedures to challenge status quo and drive for excellence in safety performance. Leading housekeeping efforts and always maintaining a clean and safe work environment in all departments. Ability to execute both individually and through the Shift Supervisor team. Identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities. Qualifications Preferred Requirements: Excellent safety and attendance record. Possesses excellent problem-solving skills. Formal Safety Training such as OSHA 30 Hr course Bilingual English/Spanish skill preferred. Possesses strong communication skills both written and verbal. Possesses basic knowledge in math, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages. Possesses intermediate computer skills. Understands production rates and production schedules. Ability to balance and achieve results in the areas of Safety, Quality, Productivity and Cost Reduction Must have the ability to complete two or more tasks simultaneously. Self-motivated and able to work with little or no supervision and maintain a working and up-to-date knowledge of products and services. Must be able to handle self in a professional manner with co-workers and supervisors. Ability to take responsibility for self and team. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Must be able to continually bend, stoop, crouch, reach above shoulder, use arms, wrists, grasp and squeeze with hands, access constricted spaces, and lift and carry up to 75 lbs. Must be able to withstand occasional exposure to dusty or dirty ambient conditions. Must be able to withstand occasional exposure to hot or cold ambient conditions. Must be able to withstand occasional exposure to mild chemical irritants. Training: Training would be a mixture of online training on safety, quality, and production procedures along with on-the-job training conducted by management group peers. Additional training would be provided as needed by the General Manager and external resources. Training duration would normally be 3 months.
