Description

Management responsibilities To provide clinical supervision, advice and guidance to the Practice team working with our patient population who receive gynaecological health services. To provide oversight of Millbrooks gynaecological health services. Operational responsibilities To be an integral part of the Practice Team overseeing all Clinical Governance in relation to Females Sexual Health. Responsible for monitoring, collating and advising on all aspects of quality, patient safety and risk management feeding back to the Practice Manager on a monthly basis.
Offer expert advice and guidance where necessary. To support the Practice to continue to embed effective risk management processes and systems to enable quality improvement and ensure learning from serious incidents and complaints. To undertake analysis of themes and trends from incidents, complaints, audits etc to identify any lessons to be learned and ensure they are disseminated. Interpret and asses the relevance of national policy and guidance.
Provide guidance and support to other staff regarding implementation and ensure effective systems for evaluation are developed in collaboration with the Partners and Practice Manager. Establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with other staff members. Support the Practice to maintain a culture of safe working environment where there is regular opportunity to hear and act on staff experience, feedback and deliver on the plans to improve experience. Assist with ensuring compliance with CQC standards.
Deliver care according to the NSF and National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines. In partnership with other clinical teams, collaborate on improving the quality of health care, responding to local and national policy initiatives as appropriate. Support and participate in shared learning across the practice and wider organisation. Ensure high visibility and accessibility for staff, patients and their families to and be proactive in identifying and help to resolve specific or recurrent concerns.
Be aware of and work in line with our Safeguarding Adults and Childrens procedures. To provide clinical gynaecological services to the Millbrooks patient population with reference to complex cases, and challenging clinical dilemmas. Operational responsibilities Take comprehensive obstetric and gynaecologic medical histories. Performing physical exams and observing women.
Performing, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests. Assessing, diagnosing, and treating disease risk factors which are specific to women. Analysing test results or changes in a patients condition. Educating patients on available forms of contraception.
Prescribing contraception/medication. Reviewing contraception/medication and discussing alternative options with patients where relevant. Inserting long-acting reversible contraception tools such as implanted devices. Removing long-acting reversible contraception tools such as implanted devices.
Assessing, diagnosing, and treating sexually transmitted diseases and educating and counselling patients accordingly. Educating and counselling patients about menopause. Assisting patients through the perinatal period. Performing primary care procedures like pap smears and endometrial biopsies.
Assess all factors which might negatively affect a patients sexual health and refer to appropriate specialist services for example: psychology/psychiatry and alcohol and drug services as required. To provide ongoing support and advice for those with associated concerns for example: sexual assault, termination of pregnancy, sexual identity, relationship and psychosexual issues. To be competent in the management of under 18 year olds and vulnerable adults working within Fraser Guidelines and mental capacity assessments and liaising with the multi-disciplinary team and CCS and local safeguarding teams/services as appropriate. Creating patient care plans or contributing to existing plans.
Diagnosing various health problems. Consulting with doctors and other healthcare professionals. Screening for substance abuse, domestic violence, sexual abuse and risky behaviours. To be able to prioritise and manage your own workload
