REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience: Minimum 1 year in sales, within the agriculture or fertilizer sector. (Must Have)
  • Education: A background in farming or an agricultural diploma is preferred, but hands-on farming experience is highly valued. Strong consideration to those who obtain CCA
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of soil science, fertilizers, and crop needs. Experience with soil testing and crop nutrient management is beneficial.
  • Sales Skills: Proven ability to meet sales targets, manage customer relationships, and handle objections.
  • Networking: Established connections or familiarity with farmers and agricultural businesses in the Kitchener region.
  • Self-Motivation: Comfortable with independent work and working in a field-based role with minimal direct supervision.
Responsibilities
  • Relationship Building: Develop and nurture strong relationships with farmers and agricultural businesses within your assigned territory.
  • Sales Opportunity Development: Identify and pursue new leads by researching potential clients and markets. Leverage your existing network and actively prospect new clients.
  • Soil Assessments: Conduct on-site soil tests and evaluations to determine fertilizer needs for crops and soil types, offering practical solutions that meet the farmer’s requirements.
  • Product Recommendations: Based on your findings, recommend the best fertilizer products and soil solutions. Customize your pitch to ensure the best fit for each client’s farm needs.
  • Demonstrations and Presentations: Provide product demonstrations, present benefits of specific products, and educate clients on proper application techniques.
  • Sales Negotiation: Engage in pricing discussions and contract negotiations with customers while maintaining a balance between profitability and customer satisfaction.
  • CRM Management: Keep accurate and up-to-date records of customer interactions, sales activities, and follow-up actions in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot).
  • Industry Awareness: Stay informed on the latest trends in agriculture, including new farming practices, soil science advancements, and fertilizer innovations.
  • Event Attendance: Represent LaSalle Agri Inc. at local and regional trade shows, farm events, and industry conferences to showcase products and build the company’s brand.
