We’re looking for someone with experience in ship design, shipbuilding, or ship operations. You should have strong business skills and be a good negotiator. You’ll need to communicate complex ideas clearly and build robust customer relationships. International business experience is a plus.
You should be good at problem-solving and adaptable to changing business needs. Personal drive and a passion for growing a successful business are key.
It would be great if you also have experience in Sales or Business Development and a degree in business or engineering.

Responsibilities

BMT Group Ltd is on the lookout for a Sales Account Manager for our Ship Design sector. Your main goal will be to secure profitable orders and support our company’s strategic vision. You’ll focus on shipyards and ship operators globally, working closely with our Head of Sales.
In this role, you’ll build strong customer relationships and manage our sales pipeline. You’ll also ensure our bidding process is well-coordinated and achieve our annual order targets. Additionally, you’ll lead cross-functional teams, bring customer insights into BMT, and collaborate with our Head of Programmes for Ship Design. You’ll also manage a Technical Sales Manager based in North America.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Meeting order intake targets and managing sales forecasting and performance
  • Building and maintaining the sales order pipeline
  • Managing account overhead budgets and bids/proposals budgets
  • Leading the capture and bidding of prospects
  • Developing strong, long-lasting customer relationships
  • Gathering and managing customer feedback proactively
  • Conducting client-focused research to understand client needs and market trends
  • Attending events, exhibitions, and activities to promote BMT
  • Following company processes from opportunity identification to contract award
  • Managing enquiries and maintaining awareness of technical resource loading
  • Maintaining records of bids and enquiries to measure success and conversion rates
  • Line managing one Sales team member based in the USA

In terms of location, we have offices in Bath, Bristol, London, Fareham, Weymouth, Glasgow, Leeds and Plymouth and we are happy to explore flexible and hybrid working arrangements. The role will include travel to BMT sites which may include overseas travel.
