SALES AND MARKETING MANAGER

Sierra Select Distributors (SSD), a premier wholesale distributor of consumer products in business since 1982 headquartered in Sacramento, CA, is searching for a high-performing Sales and Marketing Manager for our Appliance and Outdoor Living division covering nine western US States. We provide products to independent and corporate retail stores within these states. This role oversees multiple-territory managers, a service manager and is indirectly responsible for supporting employees within this division.
The Sales and Marketing Manager is responsible for developing key growth sales strategies, tactics and action plans that will promote sales growth and customer satisfaction. Successful execution of these strategies is required to achieve the departments’ financial targets. The ideal candidate will possess strong strategic and account planning skills and the ability to establish a strong sales process and manage the sales team in the adoption of that process. They will also require the ability and creativity to support and create local marketing programs throughout the territories. The Sales Manager will be experienced in managing a sales team utilizing CRM systems.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & SKILLS EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 5 or more years field sales experience
  • Minimum of 5 years sales management experience
  • Proven sales executive experience, meeting or exceeding goals
  • Experienced skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong strategic and account planning skills
  • Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close
  • Proven ability to position products against competitors
  • Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Experienced in using a CRM system

PREFERRED EDUCATION & SKILLS EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, sales and marketing or related field
  • Experience with wholesale distribution sales

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION

  • Creates and manages sales and marketing budgets on a monthly/quarterly/ annual basis
  • Develop strategies for new business and expanding our customer base
  • Provides detailed and accurate sales forecasting
  • Accountable for annual sales targets within assigned territory and direct and indirect reports’ accounts
  • Develops annual and quarterly marketing plans in support of SSD’s growth strategy and objectives.
  • Manages marketing department, including development and execution of all marketing collateral, websites, digital marketing, tradeshow/conferences, and promotional items and efforts.
  • Improves sales and marketing team’s performance by setting individual and team goals which are aligned with the strategic goals of SSD. Plans performance to achieve the goals, reviews and assesses progress, and develops the knowledge, skills and abilities of the sales and marketing departments
    The position reports to the President and Owner.
