Job Purpose:
The Sales Associate is what keeps the business moving. The sales associate’s primary purpose is to greet customers and sell them products that relate to their needs. Associates must work together to achieve the monthly sales goal.

What you’ll do:

Sales Tasks:

  • Greet all customers when they enter the store within 10 seconds.
  • Answering customers’ questions in person, through e-mail, social media, and over the phone.
  • Work as a team to maintain store sales goals and KPIs
  • Ability to assist customers with all bike categories we offer: mountain bikes, full suspension, comfort, road, gravel, e-bikes, and hybrid bikes
  • Knowledgeable of accessory offerings such as clothing, shoes, helmets, etc.
  • Maintain store cleanliness throughout the day, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, cleaning, and washrooms.
  • Processing online orders for in-store pick-up or shipping (in Unity Square)
  • Ability to process online orders and returns from Giant Weblink, Rocky Mountain ShipEarly, Locally, and Trek
  • Restocking and merchandising inventory on the sales floor
  • Ability to receive orders, tag the items, and merchandise them
  • Special order parts, accessories, and bikes for customers in Ascend
  • Ensures the break room and back storage areas are clean and organized
  • Ability to process and submit warranty claims for customers

Operational Tasks:

  • Thorough understanding of store policies and procedures and how to use Ascend POS
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the sales procedure and consistently apply it to ensure sales standards are met
  • Must know how to process any transactions, load/redeem gift cards, and product look up in-store and at other locations
  • Can transfer products in and out between all locations
  • Ability to do closing store procedures, such as counting cash and performing end-of-day
  • Knows how to process sales with FinanceIt, Affirm, and Chase Orbital
  • Following up with customers who have previously had service from lead lists
  • Ongoing online training with Rocky Mountain Academy and Giant Myagi
  • Trek U training to maintain “Guide” status 

What you’ve done

  • Education Level- High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Prior Experience—The candidate must have one year of customer service experience. Previous experience in a sporting goods store or a bike store is an asset.
  • Specific skills: Previous cash handling experience is required.
  • Personal characteristics: Must have a willingness to learn and want to try new cycling products.
  • Physical abilities: Can lift boxes or items around 30 pounds and is comfortable working on ladders.
