BLUENOSE II COMPANY STORE - SHORE CREW ASSOCIATE POSITION

The Bluenose II Company Store is excited to announce an opportunity to join our team as a Shore Crew Associate for the upcoming 2025 sailing season! We are looking for full-time, part-time, and student applicants to join us. If you love connecting with people, sharing meaningful experiences, and contributing to a symbol of Canadian maritime heritage, this could be the role for you.

QUALIFICATIONS

To thrive in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Familiarity with computer operations, including Gmail, Google tools, and general website navigation; willingness to learn the online booking system for public harbour cruises
  • Physical ability to lift and move up to 30 lbs and carry merchandise up and down stairs Must also handle wet ropes weighing approximately 20 lbs
  • Strong communication skills, including telephone and email etiquette
  • Ability to multitask, work independently and as part of a team, and follow policies and procedures for store and vessel operations
  • First Aid and WHMIS certification (training can be provided if not current)
  • Completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check through the RCMP

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Shore Crew Associate, your key duties will include:

  • Providing excellent customer service to visitors and passengers
  • Handling cash, debit, and credit transactions
  • Packaging and bagging merchandise, including wrapping valuable or fragile items
  • Maintaining store appearance by folding merchandise, tidying shelves and display areas, and regularly restocking
  • Performing daily cleaning tasks, including vacuuming, dusting, sanitizing counters and bathrooms, handling dishes, and managing garbage and recycling
  • Counting, tagging, and folding new merchandise
  • Assisting in merchandising displays and moving shelving or store sections
  • Managing inventory by moving excess stock to storage rooms
  • Answering telephone calls and responding to emails
  • Assisting diverse shoppers, including those with impairments or language barriers
  • Providing information about the Bluenose, Bluenose II, and the Town of Lunenburg
  • Booking reservations for public harbour tours
  • Checking in passengers and distributing boarding passes
  • Assisting Bluenose II crew with boarding passengers and handling vessel lines for morning, afternoon, and special event sails
