ABOUT US:

We are an 80-year-old, 25-person team family business dealing in global distribution of custom-made accessory hardware. We run two companies out of our Newburyport, MA office. First is our wholesale division (www.iasltd.com) where we produce hardware at our factory in Asia for large scale leather accessory brands. Second is our retail e-commerce store (www.buckleguy.com) where we stock and ship out of our Newburyport warehouse. We cater to high-end, quality conscious customers and take the philosophy of being a customer-service driven business.

JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a motivated Sales Assistant to support the sales team in client management and communication. As a small business (25 people), we are looking for a candidate who is well-rounded and ready to take on any job that comes their way. The Sales and Customer Support person will be working in close partnership with one other team member - collaborating daily, sharing responsibilities, and supporting each other to drive results. This role will lead a client through the sales cycle from item development, sampling, and pricing to production scheduling and shipping. They will be responsible for managing the CRM and providing updates to the sales team on current client statuses. This person must have a strong business background in order processing, sales support, and client communications. Core competencies include organizational skills, adaptability, and multi-tasking in a fast-paced sales environment.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Sales support & customer service background (2+ years sales support or customer service experience required)
  • Strong technology understanding
  • Organizational skills and multi-tasking ability a must
  • Adaptability: This job is not a structured daily workload. Job tasks will change based on client inquiries and urgency required. Job functions will change over time as business evolves. Must be prepared to change focus as needed.
  • Ability to prioritize own workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced sales environment
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Well versed in IT software such as Microsoft Office, ERPs, and CRM systems (E-commerce knowledge a plus)

Responsibilities
  • Act as the sales support and customer service agent for new and existing business clients
  • Respond to customer emails and phone calls regarding orders, samples, pricing, and other inquiries
  • Once client is identified by sales team, this person will become main point of contact for remainder of sales cycle, from entering and tracking client in the CRM, through item development, sample preparation, monitoring production schedule, and shipping
  • Prepare and send samples, pricing sheets, sales orders, and shipment information to clients
  • Communicate with our team in Asia for all client requests such as item development, product costing, lead times, and logistics information
  • Prepare shipping quotes and necessary paperwork from our factory in Asia to client locations around the world
  • Work with our AR department to advise clients on money due
  • Maintain and manage sales CRM and customer follow ups
  • Support in project management and new product development process
  • Contribute to the ‘team’ and possess the responsibility to take on an ever-changing list of tasks as they arise
