Description The Sales Director is a hands-on leader responsible for driving sales growth while maintaining the personal, relationship-driven approach Soiland is known for. This role oversees Sales, Marketing, and Administrative teams and works closely with Operations and Production to ensure customer needs are met consistently and efficiently. Regular time will be split up between in the office, at our yards, on customer job sites, and in the community. This role blends field-based relationship sales, team leadership, and local marketing/community presence. Key Responsibilities Own sales growth and customer retention across contractors, landscapers, and homeowners through high-trust, long-term relationships. Maintain an active field presence—regularly visiting customer job sites, Soiland yards, and the office to stay close to customers, teams, and operations. Lead and develop Sales and Customer Service teams through coaching, performance expectations, and day-to-day support. Oversee quoting, key accounts, and customer experience to ensure reliable follow-through across all sites. Partner with Operations and Production to align demand planning, materials availability, and on-time fulfillment. Direct local marketing and community engagement (digital, print, website/social, promotions, events/sponsorships) to support sales execution and brand credibility. Track performance (trends, margins, pipeline/customer activity) and identify growth opportunities. Improve systems and processes for lead tracking, customer management, and marketing effectiveness. Requirements Qualifications Proven experience in sales; experience in construction materials, aggregates, or related industries strongly preferred. Strong relationship-building and communication skills. Practical, hands-on leadership style with comfort in day-to-day involvement. Ability and willingness to engage customers face-to-face. Familiarity with basic marketing tools, social media, and CRM/customer management systems. Commercial awareness with an eye for growth opportunities. Team-oriented, reliable, and willing to pitch in where needed. Valid California driver’s license required; must be insurable under the company’s vehicle insurance policy, as regular travel to company sites and customer locations is an essential function of the role. Work Environment & Safety Requirements This role regularly involves time spent at active mining operations, company yards, and customer construction sites. As a result, the position requires adherence to established safety protocols and may involve exposure to heavy equipment, vehicle traffic, uneven terrain, noise, and dust. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a post-offer, job-related pre-employment physical and drug screening, in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws. Compensation & Benefits Employment Type: Full-time, exempt position. Base salary: $140,000–$160,000, plus eligibility for a management bonus plan. Company vehicle provided for business travel. Paid Time Off: Accrues immediately; 88 hours accrued during the first year, increasing with tenure. 401(k) Retirement Plan: Guaranteed 3% Safe Harbor company contribution. Additional profit-sharing eligibility based on company performance with a 5-year vesting schedule. Medical Insurance (Base Plan): Company pays 100% of the employee premium and 75% of dependent premiums. Dental & Vision: 100% employer-paid for employees and dependents. Life & AD&D Insurance: Company-paid coverage equal to 1× annual salary, with optional supplemental coverage. Long-Term Disability: Company-paid coverage. This is an in-person on-site role based in Sonoma County, California, with regular field presence required. Candidates who do not currently reside in the area should be willing and able to relocate prior to or shortly after starting. Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates.
