DESCRIPTION
This role is the foundational step in a technical sales career path that may include progression towards a Sales Engineer II or a Field Engineering role within 2 to 4 years, based on performance and business needs. In this role the Sales Engineer I is required to attain their Swagelok Field Engineer Certification in order to provide their customer base exceptional technical support and be the embodiment of being the “Fluid System Experts the World Relies On’ for their customers.
Upon completing a 12-to-18-month onboarding period—including Swagelok Field Engineering certification—the Sales Engineer I will assume ownership of a defined book of business to support. In addition to the Field Engineering certification, other onboarding objectives are completing an internal rotational program, spending time in relevant functional areas of the business to increase business acumen and fluency, shadowing and customer observations, and other standard orientation objectives.
This role will support their book of business through phone, email, and face-to-face interactions. In addition, using a proactive data analysis model, the Sales Engineer I identifies and promotes product & service offerings that align with a customer’s purchase profile. They achieve this through technical solutions proposals and product & service introduction efforts, intending to win and maintain customer trust, confidence, and long-term business.
