Key Responsibilities – Fire Protection System Sales & Technical Consultation in Oil & Gas Sector Develop and manage relationships with key stakeholders at oil & gas facilities, engineering firms, and contractors, understanding their fire safety and regulatory compliance needs. Present, demonstrate, and promote Fire Protection Systems, including active and passive solutions, fire suppression, detection and alarm products tailored to oil & gas environments. Prepare technical proposals, specifications, and sales quotations, ensuring alignment with technical requirements and industry standards (including ATEX, IECEx, API, and NFPA). Collaborate with internal engineering, project, and service teams to design, price and deliver complete fire protection solutions for both brownfield and greenfield oil & gas projects. Provide pre- and post-sales technical support, coordinating site visits, product training, and commissioning support to ensure customer satisfaction and system effectiveness. Essential Skills – Technical Sales, Oil & Gas Industry Knowledge & Fire Safety Compliance Demonstrated ability to interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and project specifications relevant to fire protection in oil & gas facilities. Apply a consultative sales approach, effectively communicating technical benefits and safety advantages to both technical and commercial audiences. Monitor industry trends, evolving fire safety regulations, and emerging fire protection technologies to maintain a proactive and credible market presence. Negotiate contracts and commercial terms, identifying mutually beneficial solutions in collaboration with commercial and legal teams. Technical Competence – Oil & Gas Fire Protection Systems & Engineering Standards Strong knowledge of Fire Protection Systems, including gas and flame detection, deluge, sprinkler, foam, and inert gas suppression technologies. Confidently explain product features, system architecture, and integration with control and safety shutdown systems (ESD, DCS, PLC, SCADA). Assess site-specific fire risks and propose fit-for-purpose fire protection strategies that comply with UK, EU, and international regulations. Assist with risk assessments, HAZOPs, SIL reviews, and functional safety documentation for client projects. Communication & Collaboration – Client Management & Multidisciplinary Teamwork Deliver engaging presentations and technical training to both clients and internal stakeholders, fostering a culture of fire safety awareness across projects. Maintain clear, concise, and timely communication throughout the sales cycle, ensuring all commercial, technical, and delivery milestones are met. Work closely with procurement, engineering, and QHSE teams to ensure seamless project handovers and proactive issue resolution. Problem Solving – Project Delivery & Customer-Centric Solutions Analyse unique client requirements, providing innovative, compliant, and cost-effective fire protection solutions for onshore and offshore oil & gas assets. Anticipate technical or logistical challenges during project execution, leveraging resources and expertise to overcome obstacles and protect customer interests. Drive process improvements by providing feedback on products, installation methods, and customer requirements to the wider business. Qualifications & Experience – Fire Protection & Oil & Gas Engineering Sales Proven track record in technical sales, engineering or commercial roles within the oil & gas, petrochemical, or fire safety systems sector. Degree or recognised qualification in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical), Fire Protection, or a related field is preferred; equivalent hands-on experience is highly valued. Strong knowledge of oil & gas industry standards for fire protection, with direct experience in specifying, selling, or supporting safety-related systems. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, adaptable to diverse audiences – from site engineers to C-level decision makers.
