Description Position Description: The Sales Engineer II/Senior Estimator at NPSG Global operates in a dynamic and collaborative manufacturing environment, prioritizing safety and quality. This role involves accurately estimating complex Class 1 metal manufacturing projects, improving quoting processes, and integrating advanced techniques like machine nesting to enhance efficiency. The position demands expertise in analyzing engineering CAD and drawings, developing SOPs and WIs, and maintaining strong customer relationships. With a focus on lean manufacturing, root cause analysis, and teamwork, the role requires technical proficiency, adaptability, and excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate has a background in metal manufacturing, a strong understanding of materials and fabrication processes, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while adhering to safety regulations. Responsibilities: Accurately and efficiently estimate complex Class 1 (moderate to complex engineering design) metal manufacturing products and designs, minimizing errors. Support/assist the Junior Estimator with Class 2 & 3 products (minimal engineering design and limited complexity) Revamp and improve the efficiency of the quoting process. Develop and implement SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and WIs (Work Instructions) for Class 1 quoting. Integrate machine nesting to expedite ROM (Rough Order of Magnitude) pricing. Ensure accuracy in quoting and conduct peer reviews of quotes. Engage in customer-facing interactions for high-profile quoting jobs. Maintain good customer relations and collaborate effectively with teams. Adapt quickly and communicate clearly and concisely. Work cohesively with production floor work centers at both metal shops. Analyze engineering CAD and drawings. Understand and apply lean manufacturing and root cause analysis (RCA) processes. Familiarize quickly with all MFP capabilities. Create forms and templates to streamline the quoting process. Maintain 7S in the department. Obeying all company, OSHA, and other state and federal agencies’ safety regulations. Requirements Requirements: Possess technical knowledge of manufacturing processes and capabilities. Have analytical financial knowledge for complex manufacturing projects. Demonstrate proficiency in engineering and manufacturing design. Experience in producing quotes for large, complex manufacturing projects is essential. Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills. Excellent problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Advanced level blueprint understanding/reading. High-level machine/technology aptitude. Good work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to perform repetitive tasks for team success. Flexibility and ability to adjust to customer requirements and changing environment. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Possess basic math skills, with the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Ability to maintain an organized working environment. Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend English. Flexible and adaptable to new tasks/duties. Ability to work 40-50+ hour work weeks dependent on customer/production needs. Education/Experience: A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a finance-related field is preferred, but 8 years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree. Broad knowledge of materials (HRS/CRS and SST, AL) and fabrication processes (laser and plasma cutting, bending, welding, powder coating and assembly, etc.) is preferred. Experience working in a metal manufacturing shop is preferred. Work Environment/Physical Demands: Manufacturing environment with intermittent noise and long periods of standing in a warehouse-type physical space, with exposure to noise and dust in hot and cold climates. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. (if on-site, but also rare) Ability to stand, bend, squat, twist, and kneel. Normal vision (with or without corrective lenses) and normal hearing (with or without corrective hearing aids). Must have good hand and eye coordination. Must wear steel-toed shoes.
