Germany has over 3.3 million multi-family buildings – and they are the black hole of the energy transition. Solar penetration is less than 1%. Smart metering is less than 2%. Flexibility and intelligent energy management are virtually nonexistent.

At the same time, regulations are forcing owners to make massive investments: solar power is becoming mandatory, smart meters must be rolled out nationwide within the next five years, and heating and mobility are being electrified. The multi-family building is transforming from a store of value to an active part of the decentralized energy infrastructure.

What is missing is an integrated system that makes this change economically and operationally manageable.
