Description

John Cribb & Sons Ltd, an established independent business with 11 branches, are recruiting for a permanent Sales Ledger Clerk, with core responsibilities for sales ledger, based at our head office in Poole.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a strong local business that has been operating for more than 40 years, trading across the South. This position is within our friendly Poole Head Office working within a team of 5.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Excellent and confident interpersonal and telephone skills to enable them to build strong relationships with our branch colleagues and customers
  • A good level of numeracy and experience of systems.
  • A strong team ethic, willing to help the team across a broad range of activities that support our branches

The role could suit someone looking to build on the early stages of a finance career, currently studying ATT or new graduate looking for their first role in finance.
Part time - up to 30 hours per week, hours open to negotiation.

Responsibilities:

  • Printing and emailing invoices, credit notes and statements
  • Cash posting and allocation
  • Unallocated cash review
  • Weekly/Monthly Aged Debtor reviews
  • Credit check account applications and opening and closing of accounts
  • Dealing with customer invoice or payment queries
  • Chasing debts by telephone/email and issuing late payment letters
  • Monitoring and chasing of payment plans to ensure payments made as agreed
  • Initiating legal action where required
  • Weekly and monthly reporting
  • Monitoring of credit worthiness of customers
  • Amending customer credit limits when required
  • End of month closing routines
  • General office admin duties as required

Experience/Skills:

  • Sales ledger and credit control experience ideal but not essential
  • Good level of IT skills - including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Good maths skills

Candidates who can provide a cover letter setting out why they are applying and how they can be successful in the role will receive preference, particularly where current experience is limited. The letter should also cover intentions for candidates currently living more than 30 minutes commute from the Head Office.
