ABOUT US

Nationwide Utilities is an independent consultancy operating at the intersection of energy, technology, and sustainability. We advise some of the UK’s most energy-intensive businesses especially data centres, logistics, industrials, and manufacturers on how to reduce costs, improve sustainability, and future-proof their energy strategies.
We’re scaling fast expanding our team, service lines, and footprint across the UK and Europe. From energy procurement to grid connections and smart renewables, we’re building a future-facing business with purpose at its core.
We believe in doing things differently: more agile, more transparent, more commercial. And we’re backing that with major investment in people, process, and AI.
If you’re a commercially sharp leader who loves building, coaching, and delivering results we’d love to hear from you.
Apply now and help shape the future of our commercial growth.

Application question(s):

  • You’re joining a scaling business where commercial strategy is evolving, and lead flow is still being built. How would you approach making an immediate sales impact while also laying the groundwork for a repeatable, scalable sales function?
  • You’re responsible for building the sales team from the ground up. How would you identify, hire, and onboard your first two sales hires and what early structure or playbook would you implement to set them up for success?
  • We’re expanding fast into renewables, infrastructure, and AI-led consultancy. It’s ambitious, messy, and full of opportunity. Why does that excite you and what do you bring that makes you right for a role like this?

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re growing fast and we need a strong commercial leader to help us scale with precision.
As our Sales Manager, you’ll be the driving force behind our expanding commercial team. You’ll be hands-on, strategic, and completely central to our next phase of growth. This is a player-coach role: you’ll lead by example, actively support live deals, and take full ownership of building a high-performing team beneath you.
Reporting directly to the MD, you’ll work side-by-side with leadership to define and execute the sales roadmap from hiring and onboarding new talent, to tightening process and driving accountability. If you’re excited by the idea of shaping a commercial engine from the ground up, this is your moment.
We’re not looking for someone to sit above the sales team. We’re looking for someone to lead from the front.

WHY THIS ROLE IS DIFFERENT

  • We’re scaling aggressively, this isn’t about maintaining a team, it’s about building one
  • You’ll be working alongside a commercially minded MD who understands the sales process inside out and wants to hand you the reins
  • Our marketing engine is already delivering warmed leads and we need you to make sure we capitalise on them
  • We operate in a high-impact, high-stakes sector: energy, sustainability, and infrastructure
  • We’re a close-knit, agile company and your voice will shape strategy, team culture, and direction

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Lead and grow the commercial team, starting with 2+ hires/month across Sales and Marketing
  • Recruit, onboard, and coach new Business Development Executives and Account Managers
  • Design and enforce sales processes: pipeline hygiene, activity KPIs, CRM usage, reporting
  • Take ownership of weekly and monthly sales reviews
  • Support deal progression: qualifying leads, managing pipeline, jumping in on strategic opportunities
  • Align closely with Marketing to convert inbound activity into revenue
  • Collaborate with the MD and Product/Operations on go-to-market strategy and client targeting
  • Track team performance and drive a culture of accountability, excellence, and development
  • Use AI and automation tools to streamline workflows, improve visibility, and scale smarter
