ABOUT YOU
We are looking for a candidate who is as enthusiastic about boats and the marine sector as we are, and who brings energy, professionalism and a forward-thinking approach. You should be able to demonstrate:
· Relevant industry experience in boat sales or a closely related marine sector role.
· A mature, responsible and self-motivated attitude with excellent organisational skills.
· A proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
· Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
· Confidence working both independently and as part of a tight-knit team.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
· Full, clean UK Category B driving licence (must be willing and able to travel as part of the role).
· Boat handling qualification (minimum RYA Powerboat Level 2) or the ability to prove equivalent experience.
· Towing qualification (B+E training) or the ability to demonstrate competence in towing boat trailers.
Relevant product and technical training will be given to the right candidate.
ROLE SUMMARY:
This full-time position offers the chance to become an integral part of Orkney Boats’ commercial team. The role combines direct engagement in both retail and B2B (business-to-business) boat sales supporting our network of dealers, allowing you to work closely with private customers and commercial partners alike. Through hands-on involvement in all aspects of the sales process, you will play an active part in shaping the company’s growth.
Beyond sales, you will be required to participate in contributing creative ideas and energy to brand promotion, advertising, digital campaigns, and the coordination of marketing events. You will also support wider business development initiatives, identifying new opportunities to promote the Orkney brand and expand our market presence both nationally and internationally.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Manage and drive direct retail and B2B sales of Orkney boats, from initial enquiry through to completion and delivery.
· Actively participate in sales and marketing campaigns, exhibitions, boat shows, and other promotional events.
· Assist in the development and execution of business development strategies to foster new customer relationships and strengthen existing partnerships.
· Engage with potential and existing customers, providing expert advice and customer service tailored to individual needs.
· Contribute to the growth of the Orkney brand through creative input into marketing content, strategies and campaigns.
· Prepare and deliver presentations, product demonstrations, and on-water trials as required.
· Travel as necessary to support sales activity across the UK and overseas.
