Job Summary:
The Sales Person for a Diesel Generator Company is responsible for generating sales of diesel generators and related products to customers in various industries, including construction, manufacturing, and energy sectors. This role requires an in-depth understanding of the company’s product offerings, the ability to build relationships with new and existing clients, and a strong focus on meeting sales targets. The sales professional will need to provide expert advice, negotiate pricing, and ensure customer satisfaction to drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities within targeted markets, including cold calling, networking, and responding to inbound leads.
  • Product Knowledge: Maintain a deep understanding of the diesel generators and related products offered by the company to effectively present their benefits to potential customers.
  • Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with customers by providing excellent customer service, understanding their needs, and offering appropriate solutions.
  • Sales Presentations: Conduct product demonstrations and sales presentations to prospective clients, clearly explaining the features and benefits of various diesel generator models.
  • Quotation & Proposal Preparation: Prepare accurate and competitive sales quotes, pricing proposals, and contracts based on customer needs and product specifications.
  • Negotiation: Negotiate sales terms and pricing with clients while ensuring profitability for the company and customer satisfaction.
  • Sales Reporting: Maintain detailed records of sales activities, customer interactions, and pipeline status in CRM systems. Report progress towards sales targets and provide forecasts to management.
  • Customer Support: Address any inquiries, concerns, or after-sales issues that arise, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction and fostering repeat business.
  • Market Intelligence: Stay up-to-date with market trends, competitor activities, and customer demands to identify new sales opportunities and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the engineering and technical teams to ensure the proper selection of generators that meet client specifications and requirements.
  • Product Training: Participate in ongoing training to stay current with industry trends, product updates, and sales techniques.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field is a plus.
  • Experience: Proven sales experience, particularly in the industrial or construction sector, with a focus on selling heavy equipment or diesel generators is preferred.
  • Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of diesel generators, their components, and how they are used in various industries is beneficial.
  • Sales Skills: Strong ability to engage prospects, identify needs, and close sales. Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed sales targets.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical information in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Customer Service: Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with a diverse customer base and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
  • Negotiation Skills: Skilled in negotiating contracts, terms, and pricing.
  • Organization: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a sales pipeline and multiple accounts simultaneously.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency with CRM software (Salesforce, etc.), Microsoft Office, and other sales tools.
  • Valid Driver’s License: Required for traveling to client sites, trade shows, and events.
