Description The Sales Representative’s primary focus is on chemical sales account management and retention of our key chemical customer base, as well as strategic expansion of new customers in the existing market. Responsibilities: Identifies prospective customers for use as sales leads through proactive networking, cold calls, and other proven business research methods Establishes, develops, and maintains positive business and customer relationships Maintains professional and technical knowledge by keeping abreast of best practices and promotional trends within the industry Travels throughout the assigned territory to call on current and prospective customers to solicit orders and build rapport Communicates the value proposition of Brainerd’s products and service offerings using various marketing materials, technical documents, and experience Creates and maintains sales presentations for internal and external use Operate Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software in order to maintain call reports, customer file records, and keep management informed Maintains sales volume, product mix, and selling price by keeping current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators, and competitors Negotiates appropriate selling prices within set parameters by monitoring costs, competition, and supply and demand Establishes working relationship with Customer Care department within the company to keep account activities and sales literature up to date and accurate Investigates and resolves customer problems with deliveries. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in business from a 4-year college or university preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required; Minimum of 1 years of sales experience within a fast-paced corporate environment highly preferred Proficient knowledge of MS Office products, including a high proficiency in Excel, required; Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to write routine reports and business correspondence; Excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations Basic algebra skills and the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commission, proportions, and percentages Must possess experience managing multiple, competing projects at once time Must have strong negotiation skills Must be self-motivated and a self-starter; taking initiative to drive sales and productivity within territory Engage effectively with senior management, sales team, and key functional teams Chemical industry experience preferred CRM software experience preferred Technical degree or training preferred Must own a vehicle that is in excellent condition for customer visits for which the company will provide a vehicle allowance
