Australia equipment hire company that targets the construction, civil and industrial markets is looking for a motivated Sales Representative to take ownership of a Sydney territory and drive new business.

This is a genuine hunter role. You’ll be out in the market identifying new customers, getting in front of decision makers and finding opportunities to grow the customer base.

The Role

You’ll spend the majority of your time on the road, visiting construction sites, contractors, builders and other businesses that use hire equipment.

There is an existing customer base to work from, but the focus of this position is new business. You’ll be expected to proactively prospect, cold call, build relationships and turn opportunities into new accounts.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Hunting for new business across the Sydney construction market
• Prospecting and developing new hire accounts
• Visiting sites and getting in front of decision makers
• Building relationships with builders, contractors and project teams
• Growing revenue across your territory
• Identifying upcoming projects and getting in early
• Managing your own pipeline, appointments and sales activity
• Working closely with the internal hire team to deliver for your customers

About You

I’m open to speaking with anyone who has a strong background in the hire industry and wants to take the next step in their sales career.

You might currently be working in external sales, hire desk, internal sales or branch operations and be looking for an opportunity to move into a more proactive sales position.

What’s important is your attitude. You need to be driven, commercially minded and genuinely enjoy winning new business.

Ideally, you’ll have:

• Experience within construction, equipment or plant hire
• A proven ability to build relationships and win new customers
• A strong hunter mentality
• Confidence picking up the phone and making cold calls
• The motivation to get out on the road and create opportunities
• Good knowledge of the Sydney construction market
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• The ability to manage your own territory and activity
