In this role, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with the Sales organization and customers throughout the quotation process. You will draft technical descriptions of the applied products and technologies. On a daily basis, you will determine costs, prepare final documentation, and serve as a key technical resource in your area of expertise. Additionally, you will demonstrate your expertise by analyzing lost quotations, identifying possible causes, and providing recommendations for future actions.
You will also play a crucial role in providing the R&D team with sales-related requirements and contribute to the preparation of technical documentation and tools to optimize sales processes. Your collaboration with R&D focuses on go-to-market activities and preparations. Your insights from customer interactions and market analysis will support the development of new products and solutions.
This role supports the Marine & Ports division in the Netherlands. Marine & Ports offers a complete portfolio of electrical and digital solutions for the maritime sector. Our systems, based on ABB’s leading technology in power, propulsion, and automation, have been meeting the demanding requirements of marine and offshore applications for decades. In this position, you will be part of the Shore Power team, responsible for all shore connection solutions — both on board and on shore.

Responsibilities

YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supporting the local Shore Power Sales team and customers in identifying the most technically suitable and cost-effective solutions, and in preparing complex quotations.
  • Preparing and/or assisting in the preparation of technical/commercial proposals based on customer specifications, local business/feeder factory inputs, and Sales organization guidelines.
  • Analyzing customer needs and competitor offerings based on market data and input from the Sales organization.
  • Determining the cost of proposed solutions and communicating these to the Sales organization.
  • Collaborating with the R&D team to provide sales-related requirements and customer feedback.
  • Leading go-to-market activities to turn R&D-phase products into concrete sales opportunities.
  • Creating technical documentation and tools to optimize sales processes and support new products and solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE:

  • A Master’s degree in a technical field, such as Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in a technical (commercial) support role, for example as an inside sales representative.
  • Good command of both Dutch and English, spoken and written.
  • Ideally, you have a commercial mindset combined with a passion for technical details.
  • Previous experience with frequency converters is a plus.
